Style Tips from the Golden Globes: Part III

Although pale shades ruled the red carpet, a fabulous print is much more fun! Heidi Klum looked stunning in vintage James Galanos accented with bright red blossoms and mile-high strappy dominitrix heels. And Maggie Gyllenhaal set herself apart in a classy Lanvin.

Notice how both dresses have a small, close-set print pattern. Large prints can be cute, but are not flattering to most figures, especially on camera. This is why you don't see it on the red carpet, even on super-slender celebs (remember, the camera adds 10 lbs). We would never advise you to play it safe (how boring), just keep in mind what looks good on your shape, what's appropriate for the occasion, and then have fun!

Style Tips from the Golden Globes: Part II

Whites and nudes were on celeb stylists' agendas at the Golden Globes. Lucky for us, we can easily wear this trend through the next 3 seasons. Structured and stunning like Eva and Kate, or ruffled and romantic like Sandra and Elizabeth, the right accessories are what will pull your outfit together. Looks like turquoise was the accent color of choice on this red carpet. One of our favorites was Eva Mendes; that amazing necklace really glams up her dress and simple updo. Style Tips from the Golden Globes

Fashion week is 3 weeks away. Academy Awards are a month out. Although the holidays are over, there are still plenty of photo-ops to be had. And because Oscar and Carolina aren't scrambling to loan us a dress, we've picked out some fave red carpet trends from the recent Golden Globes to help you identify a look and then do it yourself more affordably.

The Kids Love Champagne

Find the right shade of nude for your skin or risk looking washed out. Champagnes come in various shades and look great on many skin tones. The color is sophisticated yet fresh. I adore America Ferrera's look below. It's figure flattering and age appropriate. Notice how the dress hits at the perfect place on her leg. This below knee/high calf length is flattering and ladylike on most figures.
