Get Your Phyl: Online Trunk Show Oct. 1-7

Bright and Bold on the Runways

A noticeable trend on the runways for Spring ’09 was the bright pops of color across the board. Déjà vu. I looked back in my “inspirations” folder and found photos of women sporting the look this past spring in NYC. Glad to see stylish women always ahead of the trends!

More Store Openings in the News

Two new indie designer stores are opening on the lower east side in New York City. Lois Eastlund will open her new shop at 153 Ludlow St. in mid- October. She will be carrying her eponymous line of dresses, tunics, and mini-skirts as well as jewelry and handbags from other indie designers. Yumi Kim has officially opened her flagship at 105 Stanton St. today. Her pretty and feminine collection hangs with vintage in a soft setting.

Are You a Wangster?

Just had to share this post from Refinery 29 by way of I Am Ashleigh. They’ve given us a global “photo definition of this stylish neologism” inspired by Alexander Wang. And you see? Like Ashleigh, you can take a designer look you love and recreate it!

Rude Boy Golf Style at Lacoste

I’m loving the hot rude boy golf looks for men at Lacoste. And how cute are the golf shoes with kilties? I’m pulling out my Footjoys.

Redemption

Speaking of Marc Jacobs, he really redeemed himself for Spring 09. The fact that I hated his Fall 08 collection is more of a testament to his creative genius—because he has the ability to design with such range. The reason I love this collection?  It’s got the indie vibe.  This eclectic girl could be from anywhere, and anyone can achieve this look.  It’s about layering short over long, mix-matching prints, and accessorizing like crazy! And it’s about having fun with your closet.  Stop saying you have nothing to wear.  Many of these items are already in your closet (or mom’s or grandma’s). Others can be found in thrift stores.  By the way that skirt Marc’s wearing looks like one indie darling Prizy Sebastian sold at Unsung years ago.  (photos courtesy of style.com)

My Most Anticiptated: Rodarte

One of the most innovative labels in fashion, Rodarte’s use of color and texture wows me every time.  I was so in love with their Fall 08 collection I couldn’t wait to see Spring.  While the ready to wear line is not exactly wearable, they didn’t disappoint with their ethereal aesthetic. As always, love the legwear! (photos from style.com
